INOCAS collects selected fruits considering the genetic characteristics of matrix palm trees, such as production, size, among others. After collection, the fruits are stored and dried for the extraction of the seed, an activity carried out by people imprisoned in the MG Penitentiary System, through a partnership with APAC de Patos de Minas. After extraction, the seeds are taken to the INOCAS laboratory, where they receive adequate treatment for their germination, using the protocol of the Federal University of Viçosa for the production of seedlings.
