A parceria entre a Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) e a INOCAS resultou na aprovação de um projeto na Chamada do Programa Cadeias Produtivas da Bioeconomia. Esta seleção pública, conduzida pelo Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovações (MCTI) e pela Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos (Finep), tem como objetivo impulsionar iniciativas inovadoras relacionadas ao fomento das Cadeias Produtivas da Bioeconomia nos Biomas Brasileiros.
Além da INOCAS e da UFRJ, participam do projeto “Valorização das cadeias produtivas de macaúba e café usando o conceito de biorrefinaria”, as instituições Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Rondônia (IFRO), Campus Cacoal e LaCoop Brasil – Cooperativa dos Agricultores Familiares da Amazônia. Dentre todos os projetos aprovados, este foi o de maior valor em termos de recursos financeiros, com mais de R$ 3 Milhões.
