INOCAS, through the purchase of macauba from family farmers, has been helping these small rural producers to increase their incomes. In 2019 INOCAS purchased more than 100 tons of macauba coconut from 14 extractivists in the Alto Paranaíba region, MG. In addition to purchasing the production, INOCAS offers support to extractivists in accessing PGPM-Bio.

Brazil has low commercialization of native products, even though they are present throughout the national territory, within the diverse ecosystems. According to the Economic Analysis: Policy of guarantee of minimum prices for products of socio-biodiversity, promoted by the National Supply Company (Conab), the failures in this market occur mainly due to the lack of information in the sector, which are almost always incomplete, scarce and little accurate.

Among the essential market data, the study points out as the main deficiencies the lack of logistics for outlets and consolidated references on the commercialization channels, the level of associativism and cooperativism among the extractivists, the volume of fresh production and benefited by-products and also the consumption figures and prices paid to producers.

The Minimum Price Guarantee Policy for Sociobiodiversity Products (PGPM-Bio), which aims to guarantee minimum revenue to producers through the establishment of a minimum price for extractive products, is also carried out by Conab in this context of scarcity of information. For this reason, the state company entered into partnerships with the ministries of Agrarian Development and the Environment to develop and expand the scope of public policy. Most of the actions involve the transfer of Conab technicians to the producing regions for meetings and events, exposing the policy and its regulations.
